Possible Life Sentence Reduced to Eight Years In Fresno

Aug 11, 2017 by Mike McKneely in Criminal Defense

Recently, a man from Kingsburg, California was charged with several serious criminal charges and contacted Fresno criminal defense lawyer Michael McKneely for help with his case. In Fresno Superior Court, attorney McKneely represented the 33 year-old, who had been previously been identified as a gang member and was now charged with attempted murder, armed robbery, and assault with a firearm against multiple victims in a supposed drug robbery on behalf of a street gang. The prosecution wanted to use the man’s past record against him and as a result McNeely’s client faced a possible sentence of 88 years to life in prison.

Attorney McKneely worked extensively on this man’s case to craft a compelling defense strategy. By aggressively negotiating on his behalf, the DA agreed to reduce the man’s charges and McKneely facilitated a plea agreement for eight years rather than the decades he was facing, but will most likely only have to serve five years.

The outcome of an individual case depends on a variety of factors unique to that case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any similar or future case.
