I’ve been running my own law practice since 2007 and tried my hand at building a website for myself in 2011. My site was very basic — rarely updated, it was more of a brochure for my firm. Unfortunately, you had to actually search my name to find it. It was almost invisible to potential clients I could help.

As I began to realize that I needed a stronger online presence and solid digital marketing strategy, I was and am barraged with offers for search engine optimization “experts” but I wanted not just to optimize my site, but to build a better one that reflected who I am and what I do for my clients.

When I started to research website builders, I started by searching for defense attorneys in other locales and seeing which sites appeared, and then found out who built the sites I liked. I soon found a very nicely designed site for a lawyer in Pittsburgh, that had in fact won awards. That site was built by Postali, out in Columbus, Ohio.

About the Site Design Process

I started talking to Jim Christy at Postali and he spent a lot of time with me explaining the process and the value a new site could have for my practice. I felt some reluctance about making a significant investment in a website and wanted to make sure I hired the right firm to get the results I desired. I hesitated and planned for over a year until the time was right to make the leap. Throughout our conversations, I felt more and more comfortable with Postali and the way they operate. It’s important to me to do business with folks I trust.

I wanted a visually appealing site that showed potential clients that I’m a real, approachable person who handles all of my cases and clients with compassion, and that I’m good at what I do and get good results for my clients.

Security was also a consideration in the site construction. Because I accept online payments as a convenience for my clients, I wanted to make sure that their personal and financial information would be secure. The site uses SSL encryption to protect data and gives me confidence that my clients are protected.

It was a complex process to arrive at the right site design, but Postali’s team listened to what I had to say and put in the effort to build a site that I am proud of — and that would be attractive and usable for potential clients. The site was recently named as one of the Top 10 Best Law Firm Websites by Lawyerist.
