Juvenile Assault Lowered from a Felony to a Misdemeanor, then Dismissed
Mar 13, 2018 by Juvenile Charges inAfter a young man got into a fight with a classmate near their high school’s campus, he was charged with a felony assault by means likely to cause great bodily injury. Wanting to be proactive in fighting this charge, the young man and his mother hired attorney McKneely, who they knew was well-versed in juvenile defense.
Attorney McKneely successfully persuaded the prosecutor that the evidence in the police reports did not back up the charges filed, and his clients’ charge was reduced to a misdemeanor for the purpose of informal juvenile probation that included not entering a plea and completion of community service hours. Within a few months, the court dismissed the case and expunged the young man’s record.
The outcome of an individual case depends on a variety of factors unique to that case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any similar or future case.
