Probation for Young Man Charged with Illegal Drug Distribution

Sep 01, 2017 by Mike McKneely in Criminal Defense, Drug Charges

In California, distributing illegal drugs is considered a felony and those convicted face considerable jail time and other life-long consequences. As an experienced Fresno criminal defense attorney, Michael McKneely understands that some people become caught up in difficult situations and do not necessarily deserve such steep costs and time behind bars that will significantly diminish their lives.

Recently, a 23-year-old man was charged with conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, which exposed him to a seven year and four-month prison sentence. This is a serious offense for anyone, especially a young man who lacked a criminal record of any kind.

Attorney McKneely presented the young man’s good citizenship and strong work ethic to advocate for a more agreeable penalty based on the circumstances. By agreeing to plead guilty, the man would avoid any incarceration and only needed to serve probation. This afforded him the opportunity to continue his education and better his life.

The outcome of an individual case depends on a variety of factors unique to that case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any similar or future case.
